    3ds max import questions

    Does anyone know how to import and set up a multi/sub static mesh in 3ds and import it to udk? I cant find many tutorials if anyone has any advise or knows of a tutorial id really appreciate it thanks a lot.

    Once the multisub material is setup and added to the mesh, just export it and it should give you multiple material channels.

      You have to make sure that you set it to export materials, and make sure there's some kind of texture map in each material otherwise it won't include that material when you export.

        I dont know if when i assign the material id if it works but when i try to import it into udk a window comes up saying "ASE importer error : did you forget to add geometry AND materials to the export?" what am i doing wrong?

          I'd consider using FBX instead and having a read through this http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/FBXPipeline.html

          Particularly the Material Pipeline. Tells you everything you need to know.
