TM;DR; Any rumors on UE4 to be released for free like UDK?

Hi folks,

I'm too lazy right now to search the forum for that info... is there any chance or has Epic maybe already announced that UE4 will be freely available for the community like UE3 is in the form of UDK? I can't wait to lay my hands on that (pun intended) epic piece of software after watching the E3 tech demos. All I can say is WOW! It's fu*king amazing!

I read somewhere or heard that, i don't remember where - what will soon be available. But this is rumors.

I haven't had the pleasure of reading it yet, but the new Game Informer issue that just released on Monday has a 10-page article on Unreal Engine 4 and, according to those who read it, Epic mentioned that it shouldn't be long before a devkit is released. Although, take that with a grain of salt because I only heard "devkit" -- not "free devkit." It could, and likely will, hit licensees first.

It says UDK (64 bit/DX11) and not Unreal Engine. Hope this means what I think it means .

an Epic employee posted here not so long ago, and claimed they had plans to release an UE4-UDK
but I'm too lazy to search for it

Yep, in one of the other threads an Epic guy said there would be a UDK release of UE4

Thanks a lot! That was almost exactly what I wanted to read (aside from the lack of a time frame though). Alright... putting another presumably great "gadget" into my "impatiently waiting for"-bag.
