    Unrealscript Editor

Does UDK come with a code editor for Unrealscript?

    #2
    Hi Super,

The available code editors all come from outside sources. Some of the more popular editors include WOTgreal, Notepad++ (with Unrealscript highlighting), nFringe (works with Visual Studio, license needed for commercial development), and the brand new Unreal X-Editor and UDK IDE (thanks TheAgent!) editors.

For API/Class structure viewing, UnCodeX is strongly recommended. There's also UDK Chronicles, an online class viewer which allows you to create you own classes.

And I'm sure I've forgotten a few as well...

and code formatting for ipad ?

There are some code readers/writers for ipad but none that I've seen that show unrealscript formatting, like ConText does with its UnrealEd highlighter for instance.

Anybody know if there is an app in the pipes to review UDK classes and potter about with code ?

For browsing the source on a tablet, the only solution I've found is to export the API to HTML using UnCodeX. If using iPad Safari you can setup an intranet server to host the docs.... a pain, but if you know a decent app that can host local HTML content let me know.

Old thread but if anyone's interested, "iCodeEditor" on iPad seems to happily connect to a local FTP and actually syntax highlights .uc .. And it's only 99c. Very basic but better than nothing. There are also a couple of text editors like textastic that you can add unreal script highlighting to via the textmate format, they're probably better but they start at about $10.
