Faster performance and framerate,ScaleForm GFX or UIScene ?

Hi,

In your experience with Unreal Engine technology,which one of the user interface systems has always given you better performance and framerate?
The new ScaleForm GFX system or the older UIScene system ?

They only coexsisted for a very short time so any observation would be limited to then. Any thing else can be attributed to a myriad of other reasons.

Are you intending on acting on the response that you get? or is this just another waste of time Jason?

I just wanted to know if UIScene or ScaleForm GFX takes more processing power.
For my upcoming game,I want to use the one that is faster in performance.

Now everyone is saying that ScaleForm is slower.
Then why did Epic give up UIScene if UIscene is faster ?

Because Scaleform has more options. And for some people, it's easier to use.

Because it makes sense to them to have only one GUI system in place and Scaleform is the solution that all AAA titles use, so they want rather want to bundle AAA stuff with their AAA engine instead of their own A stuff.
Flash is more versatile and easier to set up at the cost of performance.

It wasn't about speed, it was about tools. UIScene and it's tools was an aborted experiment of a feature - a hideous mess and absolute abomination to work with.

I wouldn't even say that Scaleform is necessarily any slower, either. Scaleform uses a completely different flash system than does, say Adobe's Flash, and it is much more optimized for use in the sorts of situations where games are likely to need it.

Understanding how to integrate Scaleform and Unrealscript is much easier (even if you don't know -anything- about Flash) than understanding anything about UIScene.

If you want to know the specific answer, grab yourself a build that has both system, build the exact same thing in both of them, and benchmark it. Asking theoretical questions of a group that has largely moved on, is not going to get much of an answer beyond "there is no more UIScene".
