Now that we have APEX cloth, will the old cloth system be deprecated/removed ?

    Hi,

Now that we have APEX cloth, will the old cloth system be deprecated/removed eventually ?

In my opinion, the systems compliment each other.

For simple cloth simulations, it may be quicker to set up a PhysX cloth rather than APEX cloth. For more realistic simulations or complex simulations then APEX is more appropriate. So it largely depends on what you're doing.

Having two cloth methods in UDK requires more internal processing power from the engine right ?
So let's say that if Epic removed the older cloth system, then wouldn't it free more internal processing power so that it can be more concentrated on the newer APEX cloth system ?
If Epic could remove the old cloth system, then that would be a very smart move for performance reasons.

Not at all. Like in the other thread, if the CPU isn't involved in running those parts of the engine it simply won't execute any instructions there.
