    please help. importing meshes from max doesnt recognise ID

    I use 3d max 2011;
    and when I use ASCII to import meshes and it doesnt import material IDs.

    however when using FBX it exports the matIDs but it doesnt export my collision mesh...

    please help!
    it's getting really frustrating since I've spend 2 days doing nothing but freakin out with this issue.

    Are your collisions in max all named UCX? If not, then they will not export with the model.

    In ASE I believe you have to export collisions seperately (I think, I use FBX).

      Nope, works fine for me.

        make sure you have a multi/subobject mat applied and there is a texture in the diffuse slot. any texture will do, but there needs to be one.

          ok nevermind.
          it seems that ASCII doesnt support non "standard" materials such as arch/design.

          sorry.
          (people might note that in their tutorials!)

            what kind of textures are you using in the materials? I never use anything other then standard materials. maybe .ase doesn't like those arch mat shaders.

              Standard and Multi/Sub materials work just fine.
