    Would a Deathspank style be possible?

    Hey gang,

    I'm wondering if a Deathspank visual style would be feasible in UDK.

    like this:


    What I mean is, could we have assets that are literally just a flat polygon with a hand-painted asset on them, like a tree or whatever. Essentially creating sprites and plopping them in a 3D environment.

    And if possible, could we have these also be characters that animate using the texture animating system, or would those be better off as 3D models.

    Of course it would be possible, it's just the same as if I wanted my character's eyes to be red rather then blue.

      Simple: just make assets look how you want (hand drawn shapes on simple flat polygons) and let the engine take care of the rendering.

      UDK can do any usual visual style, it is up to you to make the game look how you want.

        Ok cool. My main concern was just having animated characters that are purely 2-D animated, like the ones in Paper Mario.

          You just have to make your own rig, and rig a plane (Or well, the flat surface that would be your character.
