experimantation and imagination go a long way you know, you should try it sometime
a good expression to remember while making games is 'smoke and mirrors'
have a 'thin' cylinder that is part of the susspension, and have a 'fat' cylinder as part of the body, line them up so it looks like they are part of the same thing. imagine shock absorbers on a car or bike.
when the susspension is compressed, the 'thin' cylinder will appear to go inside the 'fat cylinder, giving the impression of real suspension.
or you could program your own suspension, good luck with that.

Fake with fat and thin cylinder like a shock absober i had that idea also but shall i remind you that UDK is rotating and not moving ? how do you want to fake it since his only movement is rotating ?
Till now i don't understand your idea on how which axis or parameter you want to fake it....
