It's been a while since I did some on the side level design work, so I began tinkering with UDK. After a couple of months I finally came up with something which I shared with my fellow level designers down at the CBP 3 forums. With their comments and suggestions I finally created this:

Also props to Kami for the custom skydome.
Last screen is an up close shot of the translucent ice material. I replaced the material on the rock meshes in UDK to create large chunks of clear ice to add to the cold feeling of the level. I also used this material on the frozen sections of water around the level.
