    Solitude- A UDK Level

It's been a while since I did some on the side level design work, so I began tinkering with UDK. After a couple of months I finally came up with something which I shared with my fellow level designers down at the CBP 3 forums. With their comments and suggestions I finally created this:

Solitude, a frozen monument located in the middle of no where.

Also props to Kami for the custom skydome.

Last screen is an up close shot of the translucent ice material. I replaced the material on the rock meshes in UDK to create large chunks of clear ice to add to the cold feeling of the level. I also used this material on the frozen sections of water around the level.

To watch the video flyby go here:

Now I think I shall go compile all my older screens and get started on the 'making of' blog post and also try to retrace my steps and make an organized and simple ice material tutorial

er short interruption. does anyone know how to change the color that appears when i'm under water? so that when i dive, the color changes from default (nothing) to blue or sth?

I got the frozen effect by using the material editor and re making materials for all the meshes I used. Once I am done I'll have a short and "hacky" how I did this tutorial

To answer your other question, use a PP volume where you want the color to change, for example when you go under water. Hope that helps.

Also thanks everyone for the kind words. Will be updating the map soon for a final release this week. Stay tuned!

Wow, reminds me a whole lot of the Ayleid ruins as far as colouring/general design....

                      Beautiful stuff.

Pretty gorgeous, but sure makes me wish UE3 had proper AA support.
