    number of polygons on screen

    Hey, guys, I'm gonna be developing with UDK soon and I wanted to get a feel for the maximum number of polygons that this engine can handle on screen with a mediocre graphics card. Thanks for your input.

    You can see a reference in the UT3 levels shipped with UDK.

      Quite a few. Depends on the specs I guess, but I mean I'm having lots of characters 5-10 thousand polygons on the screen at once without an issue, although take into account other things like the textures and bump maps and lighting and other effects.

        I guess that depends a lot on the "mediocre" graphics card.

          There's really no meaning in knowing how many polygons you can have at the same time.
          The lowest number you have the better for any engine. Especially for statics stick to low poly stuff and if you think you need more detail invest on normal maps instead.
