    Unreal Engine 3 now integrates Wwise into its development pipeline, which is a very powerful audio middleware program. Unfortunately, this does not seem to carry over to UDK.

        My guess would be that it's a licensing issue with AudioKinetic (developer of Wwise). It would be great if they could work something out like they did with speedtree though.

            I think they might've been thinking that's what they were doing when they "upgraded" to Xaudio or whatever it is now.. but I think the problem is deeper than that.

              They may still be in the process of integrating XAudio - they don't support all channel setups yet, after all.

                I don't know about stereo audio, but my concerns with 5.1/7.1 go back through the entire history of the engine.
