    Database support

    hello all,

I didn't see this question posed. I would like to hook into an sql database. I'm sure it's possible but was wondering if anyone has done it yet. Sorry, I just download this yesterday and I'm learning still the tools and have not looked at the source yet.

I think you would connect to it via a server application that you make with the function TCPLink.

You can interface C++ source via TCP. Basically use UnrealScript & TCP/IP as glue code between the engine and your native code. You could use this to interface to a database for example.

I created a (hacky-ish) UScript MySQL client years ago in UT2004, and tried to port it over to UT3 sometime last year. There were bugs with the TCPLink code then though, and I stopped working on it.

Here was my progress (check the .ucx files):
              http://homepage.eircom.net/~JBarrett847/TitanDBCode.zip

Here was the UT2004 source it was based upon:
              http://homepage.eircom.net/~JBarrett...Fix_Source.zip

No/little documentation, and you may need a good understanding of the MySQL protocol to get it working.
Someone else on the forum adapted part of my code for their own UScript MySQL client in UT3, so you may be able to get that from them, with a bit of searching.
