    UDK Game crashes on launch

    The Editor itself works fine, strangely enough. However, I cannot use the "Run from PC" option, open any previously cooked file, or even run the application itself from the start menu or through Windows Explorer. I can cook levels with Unreal Frontend, but launching from there doesn't work even though it says all pipelines were successful. I open it, and receive a message that "Built with UDK has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem". If I let it finish that, it says it will notify me if it finds something (it never did). No error codes whatsoever. It works on my coworker's machine, but there aren't any spare machines here.;

    I've tried reinstalling UDK, updating Windows, checking the graphics card drivers, and manually installing a Microsoft .NET update. Nothing's worked, and I've been at this for the last 5 hours. It worked prior to today. I would have just asked my boss if I could go home and work there (as usual) but he's not here today.

    The log file is completely blank every single time.

    Does anyone know anything else I can try?

    I'm having the same problem, and came here looking for help. I wish I had an answer for you. Which UDK version are you using?

      I went ahead and uninstalled the UDK version I was using, Oct2012 I think and installed the latest Feb2013 version, and recooked my map. It installed and played flawlessly, so if you can upgrade to latest version it might be worth it. It did seem to change overall scale for some reason, but I guess I can adjust that.

        Starting my game from PCs with Feb 2013 UDK installed works. However it doesn't seem to be possible to just transfer the UDK folder to another machine anymore?!? If I do that without using the installer the game is cooked fine in Frontend but then crashes during startup as described in the OP. This is really bad as I usually just copy a clean UDK folder (~1GB) plus the game files to the testing machines.
        This used to be the quickest way to get acess to Frontends profiling tools etc. but now I am forced to just use a regular game installer to prepare the testing. sigh

          Wow I definitely thought I was subscribed to this thread...

          I was using the version from last March (2012). I was running the older version at home so I needed to keep it consistent (worked fine on my own machine, before said machine died a few days back). I've tried installing the Feb2013 version with no luck so far, either, though I'm trying one last reinstall...

          Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what map I use; Even clicking "UDK Game" in the start menu caused an automatic crash.

          Wait... what? That doesn't work anymore? That doesn't make any sense... I've been just transferring the map and package files between machines, and that's worked for me so far... This might be a problem >_>;

          Also, the new download still didn't work. I think it may be a problem with the video card; We found out earlier this week it had gotten unplugged and the machine was trying to use the motherboard... Is there a way to change what UDK is talking to in the config files? At this point that's the only thing I can think of...

            Having the same problem with July 2013 now... this is so weird. It worked 3 times for me, now crashes on open.

              - Have you made any changes in the script files of UDK?
              - Have you started UDK with admin rights?
              - Have you installed any windows updates?
              - Try to open unreal frontend and compile everything

                What type of video card are you using and how much RAM do you have on the machine that you are trying to install your UDK on?

                  Hate to post on such an old thread, but I've noticed a lot of people still have trouble with this and end up here. The solution for me, every time, has been to simply "Build All" on all your levels and repackage.
