  • Compiled and installed game crashes.

So, I have finally finished and decided to distrubute an open prototype of my game to get feedback.

Only to find out it instantly crashes on launch, about halway through the splash screen I think.
This is the info I get from copy-pasting the error window:
    Code:
    Fatal error!

Address = 0x5d253a (filename not found) [in C:\UDK\Modulated\Binaries\Win32\UDK.exe]
Address = 0x8f1640 (filename not found) [in C:\UDK\Modulated\Binaries\Win32\UDK.exe]
Address = 0x8f169b (filename not found) [in C:\UDK\Modulated\Binaries\Win32\UDK.exe]
I have no idea why it gives me this error, the .exe is right there, it's where I launch it from.

Edit: Here's the "Problem Signature" in case that could give some clues:
    Code:
    Problem signature:

Huh, when you launch from FrontEnd does it crash as well?

This is happening after I have compiled and built an .exe and installed, there's no FrontEnd.

UDK is running my content fine, it's just crashing when I try to run a game of it.

can you get the log window to appear? maybe there's some more info other than those horrible and useless address codes
I myself had a similar problem and it was caused because the shader compiler exe wasn't there and the game was needing it

Alright, this is what happens by the end (the rest seems ok).

          [0002.44] Init: XAudio2Device initialized.
          [0002.50] Init: Client initialized
It happens just as the client is initialized. So it's probably due to the viewportclient not being found, why it isn't though, I have no idea.
It is in the same package as most of my other scripts. I have defined my viewportclient in my DefaultEngine.ini. It's just the class which defines some simple canvas text during various states such as loading and paused.
I am guessing this happens as it is about to initialize the loading screen, where it would normally display this text.

So I fixed this issue, I had to setup my script packages a bit differently in my defaultEngine.Ini.

However, some of my users are still experiencing crashes on startup, any suggestions what might cause it?
