    Building lighting with Landscape now?

    System:

    Gigabyte X58A UD7 (Rev. 1)
    I7 920 OC'd to 4GHz
    6 GB of Corsair Dominator RAM.
    MSI GTX 580 OC'd to 900/1800/2100
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

    Problem: Everytime I build lighting on my Landscape the lighting build fails. It tells me after a few minutes that the lighting build failed, and to check the log. I am building lighting on Preview though I tried it on all the other levels of quality.

    The Heightmap itself was 1009x1009, and I changed the scale values to be 150/150/125 (for a flatter terrain).

    I am using the latest 64 bit UDK, but I also tried the 32bit and it didn't work..

    I'm having the same problem with the January UDK build as well. The size of the landscape doesn't mater. I've tried as small as 127X127 with only one section. On a few UDK builds back I had no problems with 2017x2017 landscapes. The error is also a bit random, on a rare occasion it builds fine even on the same map and settings it failed on previously. It looks like the scene export may be getting stuck in an infinite loop so lightmass isn't even really starting.

    I'm running on win7 64
    4 gigs of ram

    I borrowed and extra 8 gigs for a test run to see if I was just short on memory. same error.

      As posted in another thread in the Level Design section of the forums, this is an unfixed bug that has been around for a few builds now, it happens with 64 bit installs but it's supposed to work with 32 bit however if you have tried running it on 32 bit install and still no success then maybe go back and take a look at your landscape itself.

      Did you create the landscape using a raw file? If you did, did you make sure it was within UDK's Limits? http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/LandscapeCreating.html

      Also another thing I personally found was if my landscape created too many polys in turn overloading the engine.
