    Connecting multiplayer over the internet fails out of the box

    I followed the steps in this tutorial to connect an out-of-the-box totally unmodified version of the UDK-2015-01 release.

    • It works the first time I connect 100% of the time (the client shows the menu briefly then pops into the map).
    • It fails for me 100% of the time on the second attempt (the menu appears but it never pops up the map). It doesn't matter if I restart the server or not, it will never work again until some indeterminate amount of time has gone by (usually it will work again the next day).


    Here are my shortcuts:
    C:\UDK\TestGame2015\Binaries\Win32\UDK.exe server DM-Deck.udk -log=server.log
    C:\UDK\TestGame2015\Binaries\Win32\UDK.exe XX.XXX.XXX.XXX -log=client.log -nomoviestartup
    • It works the first time, and the second time I can see the client hit the server, so I assume this is not a port issue. I have many ports open, including 7777.
    • I have the steam client turned off, because other posts suggested it interfered sometimes.
    • I am running both the server and the client from the same packaged and installed game. Some posts implied that it would only work from packaged games, and obviously all of the files need to match.
    • My windows firewall is off.
    • I tried it with the steam client on and it also didn't work, though it was after the initial success so I can't tell you if it still works "the first time" if the steam client is open.



    Can anyone think of something I missing or messing up??! I am eager for help either free or paid.
