    I seem to be having an issue with lighting my BSP as you can see below. If I increase the lightmap resolution, the throw pattern from the window looks really bad but the shadows in the room look way better. If I decrease the lightmap res, you get a result similar to the one below. Shadows look bad, but the throw pattern looks better. What causes this? It doesn't make any sense.

    Is this a scene with mixed Mesh and BSP actors?

    And you're scaling all of the lightmap resolutions to the same number (all up, or all down)?




    If yes to both, then the problem is that BSP lightmap res work inversely from Mesh lightmap res. This is because the BSP setting means "UU per texel", and the Mesh object's setting means "Number of texels in the lightmap".

    If not, I'd need a shot of the other extreme to compare this one to.
