Symmetrically editing the first person arm bones?

I am currently trying to edit this SK_WP_1P_Arm_Bones.max reference file in symmetry mode so I don't have to redo all of my work on the other side of my mesh and have it be uneven. In the picture, you can see that I highlighted all of the bones and gave them the Symmetry modifier, but I can't figure out how to get it working properly. All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The symmetry modifier is for modelling only.

To adjust bones in a symmetrical manner, you need to select both sides and adjust them on a local pivot. If the skeleton was created in a proper way to allow for this, it will work just fine. If it wasn't then you'll get opposite rotations, so if one rotates forward the other rotates backwards. In this case you could set up a control rig that will work as a mirrored rig in stead of handling the bones directly.
