    How to create a skeleton from scratch?

    I've used custom characters on UDK skeletons, but I was curious about how to begin creating character animation skeletons from scratch with 3ds max, or Maya.

    Could someone link me to a tutorial?

    Just search youtube for "(insert program name here) rigging tutorial". There's TONS of material out there to get you started.

    After you get the concept down (it's basically the same as skinning to the uDK rig, just with bones you make instead) move on to looking up tutorials for key frame animation. Easiest place to start.

    From there you'll need to search the UDN and find resources on setting up anim sequences and anim trees to properly blend your animations.
