Hello everyone,
I'd like to compress internet knowledge about texturing in this topic. I've been doing non games graphic design for a few years so I am already pretty proficient with Photoshop. And I am trying to figure out the most efficient way to learn texturing.
I've assembled a list of great tutorials to get you warmed up a little bit. Any tips for more will be great. As far as texture layout go - it seems to be cool to look up concept art for existing games and try to base textures on that or to get inspired by photos on flickr, deviantart etc. I also think that studying textures for existing games is a great way to learn. Do you have tips and tricks how to extract them from various game engines? 3D Ripper DX should be able to do so. I haven't tried that yet though. I am also trying to avoid texturing models at the moment. Doing a lot of "BSP textures" seems more effecient way to get started.
