    Trouble with cloth meshes

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm having trouble trying to create a cloth mesh for UDK. I use Maya 2012 to make my meshes and all tutorials I seem to find only contain how to turn existing meshes into a cloth, but I can't find any about creating your own cloth. Any good tutorials about how to do that? Or what do I need to do in Maya? I already added a skeleton to the mesh.

First you model it, then you add the cloth modifier to it. I don't understand what you are asking. Can you be more specific about what you do not understand?

How do I add the cloth modifier? Are you talking about the one in the UDK mesh editor? I tried that and it didn't work.

Say you have a flag in maya you want to be a cloth in UDK. You would have one bone in the pole, and one going across the flag itself. When you skin the flag, weight all the verts of the pole mesh and the verts of the cloth that should be attached to the pole 100 percent to the bone in the pole. Weight the rest of the cloth verts to the bone in the flag itself. In the skeletal mesh properties of the flag when imported into UDK, type the name of the bone for the flag as the cloth bone. Viola.
