    Help on modelling start

I'm not sure wether this is the correct topic, but I'm in need for some help before I can start modelling meshes for my project.

I'm trying to implement some backgrounds of 3 view sides. Yet, I'm stuck with the entire background thing. How can I add a (transparant) background I can use as an example of the type of viewport I'm editting my mesh with?

one example, the type of background being used when making faces.

(instead of just telling how to do it...)

I actually can't see what your problem is. You want blueprint planes for modeling?

You don't need a transparent image to model to, just place the image planes so that they will be behind the object that you're modeling.

And what I usually do is create a new material, where the opacity is animated to 0 at frame 100 on the timeline, then you apply that material to your mesh that you're working on and whenever you want to see the image reference behind the mesh just press End on the keyboard and it'll go to frame 100 making the mesh invisible, then you can press Home to make it visible again.

Have you tried using a reference that has an alpha transparency channel?

Im not sure if there is a way to set transparency to viewport backgrounds in 3dsmax. Surely there is...
But usually people create flat planes and put a texture on them (and mark them as 'visible in viewport'). And then they set the desired texture transparency.

                  Oh...I almost forgot:
