    Got trouble with polygons

    I created a character in 3ds max. There were roughly 20,000 faces and 14,000 vertices. When I import it into UDK, faces are ok, but vertices jumped up to 54,000 vertices????. I used FPX export and all setup were perfect (I'm sure). Have you guys ever got this?

    It separates by smoothing groups, which will create more vertices

      isn't it required by UDK? Having too many vertices makes my models look terrible.

        If it's changing the look of your mesh then you're doing something wrong when you import/export
