    Unwrap UVW for complex meshes

Hi everyone. I drew a simple house in 3ds Max but the problem is, when I use Unwrap UVW it looks pretty complex and when I move each part individually, they seem to be connected by a green line. Is there any other way that I set the texture of the mesh?

here's a quick video i did a while back on the basics http://youtu.be/--QLnEw9-yU

to do more complex meshes you just break them down into smaller bits

I'm not sure how powerful the unwrap tools are in Max but in Maya they are pretty mediocre. Most professional 3D artists use 3rd party software for UV-unwrapping: Roadkill, Unwrella or some other software.

I personally use Maya's tools and Roadkill UV. Roadkill is very easy to use and learn for a beginner.
Roakill also comes with a realtime stretch shader, which is awesome. With a stretch shader you always know where you have stretching and pinching on your mesh - making it much, much easier to have a consistent TD (texel density).
