Importing texture on 3d model into udk

I've had this problem for awhile. Everytime I import a 3d model it never imports with whatever texture Is applied to it when I export the 3d model out of 3ds max and into fbx format. How do I import it so that the texture will stay on the object without me having to apply the texture manually?

There is no way to do that. You have to apply your texture inside UDK again every time (sadly).

that is incorrect, it can be done with fbx. please refer to this thread

      - where i've answered the OP before, it has been part of my workflow (using fbx). there is nothing hard about it, there are just some simple rules to follow.

I assure you, it is possible to texture your model in max, export with fbx, and have them appear in the UDK, without bringing them in/applying them separately. It was also confirmed by another user in that same thread.

I have a vid up now of the process (without audio) it wasn't intended as a tutorial for this thread, it was for the support discussion as i'm just trying to show that opacity maps don't come along for the ride although diffuse, specular and normal maps do.

In any case you can see the fbx import process here...
