  • Cannot import symmetrical parts into UDK.

Hello, so I'm following Geodav's Custom Character written tutorial, and its good. But when I try to import the arms/thighs of my custom character they won't export. I made one arm/leg then applied a symmetry modifier to them and tried exporting them. I did notice that when I skin my arms/thighs and I have the weight tool open and I select the vertices, only the vertices of the original part of the section (the original arm/thigh) become selected. When I try to import these into UDK it crashes. I made sure to have the right ActorX settings.

    Anyone? This is really confusing.

Try using the FBX exporter to see if that works at all.

if you are in max, collapse your modifier down.

I tried both collapsing and exporting and FBX file. Both failed, it still crashes as a .psk and I get an "Import Failed" message when I try importing the FBX.

Is there anything I should tweak in the FBX settings perhaps, idk I never use FBXs.

        hmm... couple questions then
how many polys is your model?
can you post a screen of it?
can you also take a screen of the import settings you are using in UDK
can you export a simple cube from the same scene file?
can you import the FBX file that didnt work in UDK into a new 3d scene?

          1. I don't know how to check (I'm kinda new to 3ds Max).
          2.
          3.
          4. I have exported my head and torso.
          5. Yes.
