    [Help] Opacity - Geometry

I didn't know how to search for this, so I guess i'll just ask here.
Lets pretend i have a "hologram" like object, no non-transparent properties, meaning that any part of it is some percent transparent, and some parts were fully transparent.
What would be the fastest way to render(ingame) the object:
    (a) One pice of geometry with a single texture
    OR
    (b) Several smaller pieces of geometry with different textures

    EXAMPLE

The left is 1 piece of geometry with one texture, the right is 5 pieces with 3 different textures

Less textures = less draws, which is a major performance hit. The additional polygons don't really matter at this low of a level.

sooo....the first option is better then?
oh, the low level was just for this example, i plan on using it with mush more detail, and size

Exactly, go for as few of textures as you can. and don't forget that you can have those different polygons using the same texture sheet!

Or just experiment yourself, there are different performance views in editor. They show texture density, overdraw, shader complexity etc, just look there, more green better.
