Ollie Who? repliedIn most games the custom parts are made children of the body's skeleton (or a bone on the skeleton) and the body part is hidden.

GninjaGnome repliedMorphs could work for things like a short coat to a long coat. But in some cases the geometry will be completely different and may not have the same amount of verts. I need for players to be able to combine the different meshs and textures however they choose.
I know of some ways it could be done, but I was hoping that someone with experience would know the best way.
I'll look into the socket idea though. Thanks

kiriri repliedI doubt there is a tutorial about that on the net... if your using maya, why not use morphs? actorx can export them . Or else, what I've seen quite some times is the use of several different meshes for one character all linked to sockets... but I don't know how to hide the seams or how to rig it so that you won't be able to see them...

Could anyone direct me to a tutorial or a link that details the best method for constructing and exporting customizable character rigs?
I’m working on a project that uses customized player characters.
The rigs need to have a variety of clothing and accessory options that require changes in geometry. I’m using Maya, Mudbox, Motionbuilder and exporting FBX. Poly count will be around 7k-10k.
