Help with looping animation in max

I've rigged a test model and I'm trying to make my first looping idle animation.

I want to set a key for all the bones at the start and at the end, so the looping look ok. So, I select all the bones, change to 'Set Key' mode, but when I click the big key button no keyframe mark appears on the time line?

I'm a noob at this max stuff and must be missing something basic.
I can get the keyframe marks using 'Auto Key' mode, but then the looping doesn't look right.

Here's my screen with hand selected:

when animatine using the biped rig you'll have to learn to click the keyframe button (red button) in the modifer/keyinfo section

I would recommend you using CAT rather than biped for animations. It makes many things faster and easier. You can make a decent looking walkcycle in a few minutes. You find the CAT object in the create panel under helpers in the drop down menue.

          Thank you dondiego.
That CAT stuff is exactly what I was looking for.
This guy has some good tutorials on CAT:
