UDK map limits, at the standard scale is 10kmx10km

what if you made chunks and used the level streaming system to load them in and out.

And as far as minecraft goes, UE3 isn't designed to handle that many objects.

There would be the limit of the persistent level. THe main one, containing all others. Ah, and minecraft doesn't have an infinite world. at something like million world generation stops and you have a flat grass world, which then after some time stops colliding (you fall and die) and if you fly through 20 blocks(using a command) above the noncolliding blocks, the game freezes. Also, at one million things like redstone are getting messy. (Redstone for example is a few times bigger and covers a few blocks one piece).
