Light Building and baking causing weird problems

Hey everybody, got whats likely to be my last problem for this project I've been working on. It's time for me to finalize the map and I've optimized as much as I could. I've built the scene with the "high" quality setting and get excellent radiosity effects and light baking. Everything is in order, except for one thing:

These trees, plants and rocks are lit even though they should be completely within the shadow of the mountain. To clarify some things, the 'ground' is the landscape tool using a heightmap, and the many props are using the foliage tool. The light being cast as a dominant directional light. I'm new to UDK for the most part, but not to mapping and environment art. I find that a lot of my problems are just a UI related thing, like forgetting to check a box or enable an option. As far as this goes, I'm totally stumped. Without building the lighting, the scene gets this part right:

But this is still unacceptable because now there's those horribly ugly "shadow lines" and there's no baked radiosity effects at all.

Does anyone know whats causing this? Or a potential fix? Anything that might point me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers and thank you
Working...
