    Road work Udk graphic issue.

Right firstly I used 3ds Max for 3d modeling, currently tried using modular roads but they got too complicated, too many problems so I moved on to using splines.

Made a similar post at http://www.moddb.com/forum/thread/ro...need-some-help

Hopefully that clears things up a bit, also was going to use the images there that I posted but this site seemed to have issues with me linking them.

Anyway if you noticed the link provided the graphic occurs mainly when I import them into Udk.

I'm not seeing the images in your last post on that other forum. Can you explain the issue? I make roads in 3DS Max all the time using sweep or loft and have a good workflow for the model and mapping. Just need to understand your problem better

Well the problem I was having was when I was importing my roadwork which was using this technique:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqbOk...layer_embedded

But when I imported to Udk I got this:

That's normal. You'll need to do some poly editing there at the intersections. The Continuous street can be fixed by just welding their verts. The cross street will need to end at the edge of the adjoining street. You can then add an edit poly modifier and do some cutting and welding.
Another tip: Delete the bottom of the roads (maybe sides too if your geometry around the roads meets up perfectly to the surface). I usually use the sweep modifier and use a line as the sweep object. My line has a slight grade to it and verts to delineate the lanes...which makes mapping EASY.
I'll try to make a tutorial after I get this demo app out

Here, you can try what this guy was doing for roads: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbJ2SupiKGE

Well the original road was too time consuming using the target welding, the original problem was trying to get the corners right so I could target weld the corners on cross roads.

Then I started using splines but that lead to graphic issues so ended up just testing out BSP but the problem with that is the roads wouldn't be as accurate. I was looking at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JYejkignL0 for sweeps, lofting but it seems more focused on making bendy roads which looks good but the problem would be when trying to get roads to cross over each other.

Also saw the video but it seemed to be more focused at making a race track than trying to be unique city roads.

Well, looking at the plugin that guys is using to make road, it is in beta testing right now options to create roads intersections.
Just make this search on youtube: "EasyRoads3D Intersections".
