what happened to short cuts

Go to Preferences -> Flight Camera Controls -> use WASD when right mouse is held. this should give you back your shortcuts. if you dont like this method of navigation, you can use alt+q for bsp, alt + w for static meshes...

I used to have Q = BSP on/off
O = Volumes on/off

etc but none of them work now has there been a change?

I found out and definitely was changed somewhen in the past.
You right-click at the Viewport Options dowwards arrow icon in each viewport.
