Editing per-vertex information in a landscape?

Would it be possible to select one or more vertices in a landscape and modify them exclusively? Would I be able to move them, rotate them, scale them, delete them, etc? I intend to do this mostly so that I can easily integrate caves and other meshes in general in my landscape.

    Advice is greatly appreciated!

Rotating and scaling a vertex isnt logically possible, it's just a point in space.

To just move 1 vertex (Z axis only), just use the lowest possible brush size. To create a hole, you'll have delete an entire segment, I'm not sure what tool is the landscape equivalent.

Alright, but is it possible to delete single vertices individually? That would make it a lot easier for making cave entrances and so forth, so that I don't have to make a mesh to recreate the whole entire deleted segment/component.

Or if deleting the whole component is the only way, then is it possible to export it before deletion? That way I could edit it in Blender and import it as a mesh with the appropriate geometry.

I also use the lowest brush size but I'm bumping just in case there's something hiding somewhere in a tool someone knows about. Vertex editing around meshes is my preferred method as well. Painting takes too long with the limit on how much you can move per mouse press. You gotta press fifty times on a single vertex on steep slopes.
