Average scene texture color?

    Average scene texture color?

    I'm currently trying to create a post process material effect that relies on having the average color of the scene texture.

    so far the only method i have is getting the color from a number of coordinates across the screen and adding them together to be averaged out. for instance if i input a vector of (0,0) into the scene textures UV i get the color value from the top left pixel on screen , the trouble is that i would have assumed that an input of (1,1) would give me the color value from the bottom right. but it doesn't .

    Can anybody give me another method of getting the average scene color . and if not can anybody explain how i would go about getting the color from other specific locations on screen?

    How about using the lowest mip? That would be the average color, but it would be before post-processing if that matters.

      I doubt mips are generated for the scene texture.
