Is there a volume that blocks particles?

I have an interior fire and would like the smoke to hit the ceiling beam and move around it. Is there a type of volume that would do the job? Thanks.

I believe there are settings to make the particles be blocked by geometry in cascade. Will be very expensive in large amounts though.
