    Hmm, when I try that all it seems to do is invert the black/white on the alpha texture I have plugged into the DepthBasedAlpha?

    Try a 1-minus node. First clamp it to 0.0-1.0 so you won't get any unexpected results if the RGB values happen to go over the 0.0-1.0 range.

    I thought I might be able to use the DepthBasedAlpha expression to get what I wanted, but I only know how to fade around the edges, essentially I want the opposite. :/

    Look up depth biased blend. It's typically used to make faded edges on water edges; you could inverse the results to get what you want.

    Edge Detected Material Opacity?

    Hello,

    I'm trying to create a material for a laser-barrier and I want the edges to be less transparent than any part of the mesh that isn't intersecting anything, if that makes any sense.

    Eventually I want the barrier to move and the edges of the plane that the material is assigned to will glow. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
