    Foliage Mode Questions(June2011 Release)

    I was looking around most of last night for some videos of people using this more extensively but I didn't see much, and most of the posts on the forum seem to be light related. I have the basics down, being able to paint on meshes/Landscape, erase them ect. So my question is more along the lines of preformance.

    When I was playing with the LoDs I noticed that I could only ever use the base LoD of the mesh, when I made it transition to LoD1, the meshes simply disappeared on me. This wouldn't be a problem if using this many actors wasn't so intensive or if I could use three different static meshes, telling one to render close, the second one to render only at a certain distance to another distance, ect.

    Any input would be greatly appreciated.

        the thread reads 'questions' but I only found a single one
        it's common knowledge that for now, foliage won't make use of the mesh's LOD levels. AFAIK this hasn't been said by anyone from Epic but I'm certain this'll be fixed in a future release (they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot by now allowing it)
