Why is this happening?

Why is it at an angle like that?

It is driving me crazy trying to find a fix.
I must have accidentally hit some keyboard shortcut.

Use world orientation instead of local.

Because that is what I most likely hit, as I don't remember changing it in the pull-down menu.

Just press ~ (tilde) on your keyboard.

If you use non-uniform scale tool, it switches to local automatically. Then other transform tools will be set to local as well.
