there is a thread here with free downloadable assets, including chairs and tables: http://forums.epicgames.com/showthre...highlight=free

Google 3D warehouse has a bunch of stuff, and (afaik) there is another thread on how to use google assets with UDK: http://forums.epicgames.com/showthre...highlight=free

If you hunt around the web you'll find a lot of useful assets, just check which formats UDK and your modelling program support.

In reference to that, i know i need to import it into 3DS Max first, would importing it into blender have a same result, like would I get a lesser of a result in blender compared to max?

personally, I use 3ds Max, because it is (speaking very loosely) the industry standard.

Blender/3ds Max/Maya will all give you about the same result. 3ds Max is probably the most widely used, but there are plenty of UDK-centric Maya and a lot of Blender users too. I have heard that Blender is perhaps a bit more difficult to use, but it is totally free even for commercial use. Maybe 3ds Max has more UDK-relevant tutorials available.

The question is, which one you prefer to use. As you'll understand, it mainly comes down to the artist's skill and willingness to learn the toolset too, of course.

By the way, if you are planning to do environment modelling, the 3d Motive Modular Building tutorial may be a good starting point... it is not free, but it is a great start, UDK-specific, and a good intro to an environment asset development pipeline: like starting from a texture in Photoshop, to the mesh in 3DS Max, to a finished model, with diffuse materials, in UDK.

It would be heaven if you could use that free copy of 3d Max for comercial projects, but noo... lets stick with blender
