    Terrain and texture heightmaps

I saw somewhere that you can paint terrain textures based on heightmaps. For instance if I made a stone texture and a snow texture I could link each to it's own individual heightmap so that if the stone went down first, when I painted the snow texture on top of the stone texture it would fill in the cracks of the stone texture first and then move it's way up before completely covering the texture.

Does anyone know if I can do this with the current release of UDK and how to set that up?

    thanks!

Not certain if it matters, but are you using the new Landscape system, or the old Terrain? Either way, this exact topic is covered very nicely in this DVD: http://www.3dmotive.com/product-udk-mesh-paint
