Translucent materials question: Why are some polys invisible from point of view

    Hello out there,
I`m playing a little bit with translucent materials. But why are some polys invisible depending on the point of view? And is there a way to make them opaque? Below you can see an image that shows what I mean.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's an issue that has been there for a while. When you apply a translucent material to an object, the entire object will be somewhat translucent, regardless of the opacity map you're using.

The workaround is to have the translucent bit in a separate material.

Translucency doesn't write to the depth buffer, so it doesn't get correct visibility determination between triangles. Make the translucent part into a separate material.
