Make an emissive material to cast shadow

How to make an emissive light to cast shadow ?

When I check "Use Emissive For Static Lighting" in a StaticMesh I can't make it to casts shadow.

Is it normal or have I missed something ?

Hi, I think you have the emmisive effect on, but the material wont emit light at all. You need to make light (point light for example) separately and move it to location where your emmisive material is.

      Ok thanks you.

It's a bad news for me : emissive material can be applied on shapes more complexes than simple spheres..

You can have your emissive surface give off light in a lightmass bake. Its a tick box in the options of the mesh though I can't remember which one. Its covered in the UDK video tutorials. If your familiar with them its the one where he sets up the light coming from the little lanterns placed around the first room.

Have you built the lighting? It won't show until you do.

It can cast a shadow, see if there's any options nearby on the emissive mesh to cast a shadow with it. I know it can though, having to check a second box seems familiar.

*edit*quick Google search: http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=758284 solution is at the end, full reading might give you a better idea, skimmed it quickly.
