    Seperating Ambient sounds by area

    Does anyone know of a way to have ambient sounds from one area of a level not be heard in another (or maybe process them in a way that makes sense.)? For the project I am working on I have a courtyardish area and stairs leading to a cave, when I am in the cave I don't really want to be able to hear the ambient sounds from the courtyard
