Can part of a Static Mesh be hidden?!

I'm busy creating Mass Effect 2's Normandy in UDK.
With UModel i'm extracting the meshes, so i can import them in Max for example and then take them into UDK. It goes smoothly!

It seems Bioware made ONE mesh called MapStation_02 which is in ONE map used in TWO DIFFERENT WAYS; one looks whole and somewhere else in de map it look like it's cut in half.

Can meshes be partly hidden inside UDK?!

From it's name - STATIC Mesh, it means it's static.. it's just in level.. You can maximally change material and make collision... (Yea sure you can convert it to for example to RB, but that won't help)
So answer is no... What i know...

Use 'SetHidden' to hide and 'SetCollision' to disable collision.

Static means it's not animated/deformed using skeletal animation - it doesn't mean that the mesh can't move - for eg. using object animation, geometry shader or engine dynamics.
