Could anyone please tell me what this is?



I know it has something to do with painting materials onto the terrain. It pops up a few seconds after I start painting a new material. I just don't know what to call it so I can't figure out how to fix it.

This is terrain with color splotches all over it.

Well known feature, editor tells you: "read tutorials about terrain."

It's basically telling you that your material is too complex in one way or another. Remove some materials or cut down on the required texture lookups.

Yea, 16 is the max texture sample limit for each terrain sector. Setup layer masks and lightmaps use few, so you're left with 10 or so actual texture samples.
