    Dynamic Shadows

Hi there I am having a problem with dynamic shadows when I turn off precomputed or just use an interp actor or dynamic actor the shadows can point in wrong directions (probably because of lightmass) and the shadows go through other objects and are not cast on the players gun any help?

By default the dynamic shadows will be rendered as modulated shadows and that is a sort of "fake" shadow. Static lights can only use these shadows for dynamic shadows. It's not generated by the light source and is simply "pushed" around by lights to give the illusion the light casts the shadow. These shadows will go through your whole level, they are not blocked by walls or whatever else.

You'll need to look into dominant lights maybe. This light can cast static shadows in the static world and dynamic shadows on moving objects at the same time. It's quite efficient to use these but kind of limiting. You cannot overlap them in any way. Use them in key places to sell the idea of dynamic shadows.

Another way of course is to use dynamic lights, movable lights. They are dynamic and the shadows they cast can be fully dynamic, you just need to change the shadow mode to normal shadows and uncheck the Cast Composite Shadow box. This will enable the light to cast fully dynamic shadows on any object. This is pretty expensive and you should use it quite sparingly. Again if you really need to, use these in some key places to sell the idea.
