    Disappearing Shadows

    How can I set the shadows on Static Meshes to be there even if the camera or the player is very far from the mesh? Where can this setting be found and adjusted?

    Those are dynamic preview shadows. You're not supposed to use them. Build level's lighting.

      when you go to your DirectionalLight's properties, go to Light->LightComponent->DirectionalLightComponent and there you can set "Whole Scene Dynamic Shadow Radius"...a value like 1500 is good, you should set it too high or else it will lag very hard...so this should make better (and more detailed) shadows ingame...but i only works when you have a directional light and i think it only works in UDK March build (and later it'll be there too i think) yet...
