    Is Terrain fixed for mobile?

I have been searching around for the last hour but haven't been able to find much past January 2011. Has Epic released a fix yet that allows for terrain on Mobile / iOS yet?

Terrain is not supported on iOS as of now.

Can one create a terrain object in UDK on the non-mobile part and then import it into mobile? Also why was it removed?

You can create terrain in UDK, then export that terrain to OBJ file, import that file into 3DS Max, then export to FBX, then re-import to UDK and you have your terrain ready for mobile.

Big terrains take up a lot of polygons, so you need to be careful not to slow down your framerate with terrain.

you can use Sculptris (free app - http://www.pixologic.com/sculptris/ ) to reduce polycount on terrain OBJ files with great control - you just paint on mesh area where you want to reduce amount of details + you can use other tools to modify its shape

After exporting a terrain from UDK into 3ds Max, use this open source plugin , ( Populate terrain )to reduce a 3000 poly terrain to 200 in 10 seconds....Its amazing..
